Jett could army crawl right away, but lost the skill because I didn't set him tummy down enough early on.
Kay says: The general rule is that children should sit only when they can get into the position themselves - then they are strong enough to hold their body upright without causing slumping/posture problems. So belly crawl almost always comes before sitting unless the child is trained to sit first. Then they usually start creeping more and more - hands and knees.
Me again:
That's awesome that Chase is creeping before sitting!
Most typical babies sit by 5-6 months old, which would be very difficult for babies with DS because of the lower muscle tone. With crawling, they can use a lot of different muscles to propel themselves.Andi Durkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03651762223667606607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1989545445919628676.post-38256986081133436552011-08-31T10:42:25.757-04:002011-08-31T10:42:25.757-04:00Is it more common for babies to sit or crawl fist?...Is it more common for babies to sit or crawl fist? And is the same true for DS kids? Chase is crawling on hands and knees now and still doesn't put himself into a sit. I was just wondering which usually comes first.Krishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14131398331710810315noreply@blogger.com
